Else

Voice, Piano, Guitar

Else is a music educator based in downtown Toronto. Her musical journey began when she was very young, singing along to the Beatles, Feist and Heart in her early childhood. She eventually developed an affinity for folk and singer/songwriter styles, which she still takes great influence from today. Around this time is also when she picked up the guitar and began learning to accompany herself in her performances. As her passion grew in her teen years, she completed her grade 8 RCM theory and vocal training with a classical vocal coach. This year, she will complete her third year of studies in vocal jazz performance at the University of Toronto, where she receives high-level instruction from renowned professionals in the Toronto music scene. Outside of her academics, Else regularly performs various styles of music, ranging from solo acoustic performances her original songs, to pop covers, to jazz standards with her band. She has performed in various venues throughout the GTA, some of which include the Springtide Music Festival, The Rex Jazz and Blues Bar, The Emmet Ray, and the Burlington Performing Arts Centre.

Through her lessons, Else aims to guide her students in fostering a deep connection with music, making the often intimidating process of learning something new as engaging and fulfilling as possible. She makes sure to leave sufficient space for her students to take agency in their learning, while also providing thorough guidance that ensures they feel supported and encouraged at all times. Else is happy to provide guidance in both the more technical aspects of music, such as placement, theory and technique, as well as in the more creativity-based areas, such as songwriting and confidence in performance.
