Else

Voice, Songwriting, Guitar

Born and raised in Uxbridge, Else Langhans is a Toronto-based vocalist, songwriter, and educator whose musical journey began with a deep love for storytelling through sound. Singing along to artists like Feist, Heart, and The Beatles from a young age, she developed an early appreciation for melody and emotion that continues to shape her work today.

Else first picked up the guitar in her early teens, quickly realizing how it could serve as both a creative outlet and a storytelling companion. The instrument became central to her artistic voice, allowing her to explore harmony, phrasing, and composition in a hands-on way, an approach she now brings into her lessons.

During her time in the Vocal Jazz Performance at the University of Toronto, Else studied under some of the city’s leading professionals. She performs regularly throughout the GTA, with past appearances at venues such as The Rex Jazz and Blues Bar, The Emmet Ray, Springtide Music Festival, and the Burlington Performing Arts Centre.

As a teacher, Else takes an encouraging and intuitive approach, guiding students to connect deeply with music while developing the confidence to explore their own creativity. Her lessons combine strong technical foundations in voice, theory, and technique with opportunities for self-expression through guitar accompaniment and songwriting.

In her songwriting sessions, Else helps students find their lyrical voice, drawing inspiration from artists like Feist, Joni Mitchell, Madison Cunningham and The Beatles. With a focus on lyric writing and emotional storytelling, she provides practical tools and thoughtful feedback that empower students to turn their experiences into songs that resonate.

Through every lesson, Else cultivates curiosity, confidence, and authenticity, helping students not only strengthen their musical skills, but also discover their unique artistic identity.
