Evgenii

Flute, Piano

INTRO

Evgenii is a conservatory-trained flutist and pianist whose playing was shaped in one of Europe's great orchestral traditions — and who has spent the last eight years teaching students to find that same sound. He holds a Bachelor of Music in flute performance, has studied under some of the most celebrated flutists alive, and has led a wind orchestra from the podium. At Greater Toronto Music School he teaches flute, piccolo and piano with the patience of someone who remembers exactly how each first note felt.

BACKGROUND & TRAINING

Evgenii's training runs deep: nine years of conservatory study in Moscow, culminating in a Bachelor of Music in instrumental performance with qualifications as an ensemble performer, orchestral performer, conductor and teacher. He has refined his playing in masterclasses with Emmanuel Pahud, principal flute of the Berlin Philharmonic, and with the legendary British flutist William Bennett, and continues to develop through international festivals and symposia on both sides of the Atlantic.

MUSICAL RANGE

Flute is Evgenii's home instrument, with piccolo close beside it and piano taught as a second discipline — so a student can build tone and breath on the flute while developing the keyboard and reading skills that make every other instrument easier. He has performed in symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles and spent two years conducting a wind orchestra, experience that shows in how he teaches phrasing, blend and listening. Students preparing for band, orchestra or ensemble auditions get a teacher who knows exactly what the section leader is listening for.

TEACHING STYLE

Evgenii teaches the way he was taught — carefully, with real attention to tone, posture and breath from the very first lesson, because those are the habits that decide how far a player eventually goes. He is calm, methodical and genuinely warm with beginners, building technique in small, achievable steps and pairing it with repertoire students are excited to play. Fluent in English, Russian and German, he is a natural fit for families who want their child taught in a second language as well as a first.
