Ka Hei
Ka-Hei is currently the 2nd clarinet of Orchestre Philharmonique du Québec and the Co-founder of Blakeana Duo, an award-winning Clarinet-Piano duo group which has been actively performing internationally since 2022. Ka-Hei studied at McGill University for his Graduate Diploma in Performance with Todd Cope. Before coming to Montreal, He completed his Master’s of Music at the Manhattan School of Music with Charles Neidich, and Bachelor of Arts(Music) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong with Andrew Simon. He is also the winner of the 2022 Lillian Fuchs Chamber Music Competition and 3rd prize winner of the 2018 Buffet Crampon Asia Pacific Clarinet Competition. Ka Hei has been frequently invited to perform in Hong Kong. Notable performances include Mozart Clarinet Concerto with the Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra in 2016 and Brahms Clarinet Quintet for the ‘Friday Music 530’ at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2018. In 2020, He was invited to give a clarinet recital for the ‘Midday Oasis’ at the Chung Chi Chapel. Chan is the Co-founder of Blakeana Duo, an award-winning Clarinet-Piano Duo group which has performed in multiple cities, including New York, Toronto and Hong Kong. He has additionally served as a section clarinetist of the Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong, Ponte Orchestra, Orchestre philharmonique des musiciens de Montréal, Manhattan Symphony Orchestra and McGill Symphony Orchestra. As a classically trained clarinettist in Hong Kong, Ka- Hei enjoys premiering or performing contemporary music written by Hong composers, and sharing Hong Kong’s culture through music.
