Meika
Viola, Violin
Meika is a dedicated violist and music educator originally from Regina, Saskatchewan.
She began playing the violin at age 3 and fell in love with the viola at 13. Meika completed her
Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance with a minor in Theatre Studies at the University of
Western Ontario, and she is currently pursuing her Master’s in Viola Performance at the
University of Toronto.
Throughout her studies, Meika has performed with many orchestras and chamber groups, often
serving as principal violist. She was second violinist in the Fiearro String Quartet, which won the
2018 Chamber Music division of the Canadian National Music Festival. She has also
performed in youth and community productions, including pit orchestras and local ensembles.
Meika believes strongly in the power of music to inspire confidence, creativity, and teamwork in
young people. With years of experience performing and collaborating with musicians of all ages,
she brings patience, energy, and a sense of fun to every lesson and rehearsal.
