Tim

Tim is a talented and passionate multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer and educator. Tim has ARCTS designation from the RCM for both piano and cello in addition to his proficiency as a vocalist and composer. His teaching career began in 1997 and his philosophy is to meet students where they are at and go along on the musical journey with them at their pace, taking steps towards the goals they want to achieve. At age 20 while studying cello at the Hochschule fur Musik in Detmold, Germany, Tim was diagnosed with HIV. This traumatic experience forced him to reevaluate his life and path so he returned to Vancouver, where he began to focus on more contemporary musical styles. An advocate for HIV awareness, Tim composed a rock opera entitled Dreamer to tell his story. He also enjoys a busy performing schedule with his original group, Southern Time Band. Tim has performed Dreamer and has been featured with Southern Time Band at major AIDS events globally. Currently based in Toronto, Tim maintains a busy teaching schedule and enjoys inspiring students to be the best musicians that they can be. Tim is available to teach cello, piano, voice and songwriting to students of all ages and skill levels. He also keeps a busy performing schedule and can be found performing around the city and beyond. Tim is looking forward to working with you to help you achieve all of your musical goals!
